Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Paro
Enjoy one of the world’s most spectacular mountain flights as you fly into Bhutan. From the left side of the plane, you may spot some of the tallest Himalayan peaks. As you descend into the serene Paro Valley, you’ll be greeted by views of alpine forests, ancient monasteries, and scattered farmhouses. Upon landing, our team will welcome you at the airport and assist with transfers. Visit Paro Dzong and Dumtse Lhakhang, then check in to your hotel.

Day 2: Hike to Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang Monastery)
Today you’ll hike to Bhutan’s most iconic landmark – Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched 1,000 meters above the Paro Valley on a sheer cliff, it’s believed to be the meditation site of Guru Rinpoche, who arrived here on the back of a tigress. The hike takes about 2.5 hours to the viewpoint cafeteria, with an optional 45-minute climb to a closer viewpoint. After descending (approx. 1.5 hours), return to Paro for lunch and spend the afternoon exploring Paro Bazaar for souvenirs and handicrafts.

Day 3: Gunitsawa Village – Sharna Zampa
Your trek begins! Drive to Gunitsawa Village, where the trek permit will be checked at the army post. Cross the Paro River to reach your first campsite at Sharna Zampa, nestled near the river.

- Altitude: 2,850 m

Day 4: Sharna Zampa – Thangthangkha
Hike through a series of gentle ascents and descents following the river valley. The trail narrows before descending into a scenic meadow where camp will be set up. Weather permitting, you’ll catch your first glimpse of Mount Jomolhari.

- Ascent: 770 m | Descent: 10 m | Altitude: 3,610 m

Day 5: Thangthangkha – Jangothang (Jomolhari Basecamp)
Begin with stunning views of Mount Jomolhari. Trek through alpine meadows, yak herder camps, and villages such as Soe, Takethang, and Dangochang. Today’s highlight is reaching Jangothang, one of the most beautiful campsites in the Himalayas, offering a panoramic view of Jomolhari.

- Ascent: 480 m | Altitude: 4,080 m

Day 6: Jangothang Halt (Acclimatization Day)
Enjoy a rest day at basecamp with optional hikes for acclimatization and exploration. You can choose to hike to Tshophu Lake, explore the trails towards Jichu Drake, or simply relax and enjoy the landscape. Blue sheep are often spotted in the surrounding slopes.
Overnight at Jangothang.
Day 7: Jangothang – Soi Yaktsa
Climb past the last village and pass the beautiful Tshophu Lake (4,380 m), then ascend steeply to Bhonte La Pass (4,890 m) – the highest point of the trek. Descend into the Dhumzo Chhu valley and camp near Soi Yaktsa village.

- Ascent: 810 m | Descent: 1,090 m | Altitude: 3,800 m

Day 8: Soi Yaktsa – Thombu Shong
Ascend gently over a ridge and descend into a stream valley. Cross the scenic Takhung La Pass (4,520 m), then descend to Thombu Shong, a yak herders’ settlement.

- Ascent: 720 m | Descent: 340 m | Altitude: 4,180 m

Day 9: Thombu Shong – Gunitsawa Village (Trek End)
Cross Thombu La Pass (4,380 m) and make a steep descent of over 1,600 m to reach Gunitsawa Village. Our team will be there to receive you, or you may opt to camp again at Sharna Zampa, where your trek began.
- Distance: 13 km | Duration: 4–5 hours
- Ascent: 200 m | Descent: 1,650 m
Overnight at campsite or drive to Paro/Thimphu.
Day 10: Thimphu Sightseeing
Spend the day exploring Bhutan’s capital. Sites include:
- King’s Memorial Chorten – built in memory of the 3rd King.
- Buddha Dordenma – a giant 169-ft statue overlooking Thimphu.
- National Library – housing ancient Buddhist texts and the world’s largest published book.
- Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory – learn and try traditional paper-making.
- Takin Preserve – home to Bhutan’s national animal.
Enjoy time in the city with leisure shopping or a walk around the Clock Tower Square.
Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 11: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport. Our team will assist you with all departure formalities and bid you a warm farewell. Carry with you wonderful memories of Bhutan’s mountains, culture, and hospitality.

Discount
There shall be no charge for children up to the age of 5 years on Bhutan travel cost. However, those between the ages of 6 – 11 years get 50 % discount on daily rates.
