Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Welcome & Acclimatization
Altitude: 2280 m
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide and driver. Transfer to your hotel and take some time to acclimatize. In the afternoon, enjoy a short stroll around Paro town or visit nearby landmarks such as Paro Dzong or the National Museum. Prepare for your trek with a briefing and gear check in the evening.
Day 2: Paro – Shingkarap
Distance: 11 km | Duration: 4–5 hrs | Ascent: 250 m | Camp Altitude: 3110 m
Begin your trek with a drive to Zangkipang, passing orchards and conifer forests. The trail follows the Paro Chhu through rhododendron forests and streams. After 2–3 hours, you’ll reach Shingkarap, a wide pasture used by highlanders. Walk a short distance beyond to your riverside campsite.
Day 3: Sharna Zampa – Soi Thangkha
Distance: 15 km | Duration: 5–6 hrs | Ascent: 650 m | Camp Altitude: 3750 m
Continue along the Pa Chhu River through mixed forests. Cross a bridge and enjoy a hot lunch by the riverside. The trail then climbs through rhododendron forests to reach the Soi Thangkha campsite.
Day 4: Soi Thangkha – Jangothang Base Camp
Distance: 17 km | Duration: 4–5 hrs | Ascent: 290 m | Camp Altitude: 4040 m
Ascend above the tree line, passing army camps, mani walls, muddy paths, and yak herder settlements. Enjoy a hot lunch and trek through barley and potato fields before reaching the scenic Jangothang Base Camp with spectacular views of Mt. Jumolhari and Jichu Drake.
Day 5: Jangothang – Acclimatization & Exploration
Spend the day acclimatizing with an optional 4-hour hike offering views of Mt. Jichu Drakye and Jumolhari. Spot blue sheep, golden eagles, and blue poppies. You can also rest at the grassy base camp with ruins of a fortress nearby.
Day 6: Jangothang – Lingshi

Trek past glacier valleys, yak camps, and majestic Himalayan views. A moderately challenging day that brings you to the historic Lingshi settlement.
Day 7: Lingshi – Chebisa
Distance: 12 km | Duration: 5–6 hrs | Descent: 250 m | Camp Altitude: 3850 m
Visit the ancient Lingshi Dzong and enjoy gentle walks through yak camps and remote villages. Reach Chebisa, a serene village adorned with a waterfall. Camp near a stream.
Day 8: Chebisa – Shoumothang
Distance: 17 km | Duration: 6–7 hrs | Ascent: 570 m | Descent: 290 m | Camp Altitude: 4130 m
Climb steeply to Gogu La Pass (4500 m), where blue sheep may be seen. Descend through rhododendron forests, pass herder camps, and climb again to camp near a stream.
Day 9: Shoumothang – Robluthang
Distance: 17 km | Duration: 6–7 hrs | Ascent: 570 m | Descent: 290 m | Camp Altitude: 4130 m
Trek over Jari La Pass (4700 m) with views of Kangbum (6526 m). Descend into Takin territory in Tsarijathang Valley. Cross unbridged streams and ascend to the rocky Robluthang meadow.
Day 10: Robluthang – Lingmithang
Distance: 19 km | Duration: 7–8 hrs | Ascent: 850 m | Descent: 870 m | Camp Altitude: 4140 m
Cross Shingchen La Pass (5005 m), the trek’s highest point, and descend through moraines and rivers to the forested meadows of Lingmithang, with Gangchenta (Tiger Mountain) towering above.
Day 11: Lingmithang – Laya
Distance: 10 km | Duration: 4–5 hrs | Camp Altitude: 3850 m
Enjoy a scenic walk through mossy forests and waterfalls to Laya, Bhutan’s second-highest village. Experience traditional Layap hospitality, visit homes, and observe unique cultural attire. Overnight in a local farmhouse.
Day 12: Laya – Gasa – Punakha – Departure
Distance: 19 km | Duration: 6–7 hrs | Descent: 950 m
Descend to the Mo Chhu River, trek through forests to Koena (3800 m), and meet your vehicle for a scenic drive to Gasa. Soak in the rejuvenating hot springs, a perfect end to your trek. Then continue to Punakha or transfer directly to Paro/Thimphu, depending on your departure plans.
End of trek. Farewell and see-off by your guide and team.

There shall be no charge for children up to the age of 5 years on Bhutan travel cost. However, those between the ages of 6 – 11 years get 50 % discount on daily rates.
